During the deployment of the 314th PAOC in Iraq, schools are encouraged to follow the day-to-day events that its Soldiers encounter. This includes interaction with Iraqi citizens, international media, other Soldiers, family members, U.S. officials and organizations, and others. Each Soldier’s blog provides a unique insight into the experiences of a deployed Soldier.
In addition, 314th Soldiers will be creating video and photographic products and writing news stories as part of their official duties. A link to those products, as well as a link to their personal blog entries, can be found on each Soldier’s profile page beneath their personal photograph.
314th Soldiers will also be creating special stories, photos and video for schools. These products will focus on the lives of young people in Iraq. These products will be available at the end of January and updated every week. This will provide a unique addition to any class studying Iraq, the Middle East, the U.S. military and conflict resolution. Links to those products will be found on this page when they become available. To begin your journey of discovery, click on the link below for basic Iraqi cultural information (provided to all Soldiers before their deployment to Iraq).
Finally, 314th Soldiers, working closely with U.S. Army Reserve Civil Affairs Soldiers, will coordinate interaction between U.S. and Iraqi schools and their students. Over the next year, U.S. and Iraqi school children will be able to communicate through personally written letters. U.S. schools will also be able to adopt an Iraqi school to provide much-needed supplies, such as notebooks, pencils and study aids. Details will be posted here after the unit has reached Iraq.
